1958
The original Mr. Whippy Ice-Cream van company was founded in Birmingham, England by Dominic Facchino.
1962
10 Mr. Whippy trucks arrived at Botany Bay, Sydney with the distinct Greensleeves melody associated with the brand.
1964
The Mr. Whippy company extended its operations to New Zealand.
1965
A Mr. Whippy Ice Cream Truck appeared in the Beatles film, Help.
1966
The company was acquired by Walls and Unilever
1970
Over 200 physical vehicles were sold to private operators and the brand began to retail through shopping centres.
1982
The trademark ‘Mr. Whippy’ was registered in Australia by Mr. Whippy Pty Ltd.
2000
Franchised Food Company bought the business. At this time, there were 30 retail outlets on Australia’s east coast
2019
John Dib, founder of Dib Group purchased the company officially introducing Mr. Whippy Thick shakes and Slush.
2021
Dib Group aims to re-invent the original Mr. Whippy soft serve concept. Stay tuned!
